elementary schools throughout southern Illinois After teaching at the former St Teresa Academy East St Louis and doing some religious work she joined the staff of Althoff Catholic High School in 1967 where she taught German language and Ham-ing for 21 years Sister troupe performed both locally and nationally at festivals and conventions in Missouri Kentucky Arkansas Pennsylvania and Tennessee She congregation The remnant of foe 200-year-old scroll was brought to Chicago two years ago by an immigrant from Belarus Vitaly Gurevich who died shortly after giving it to Rabbi Zev Cohen of Congregation Adas Yeshurun Cohen said Friday that Gurevich could not read Hebrew himself but realized the scroll was sacred and kept it hidden at his home in Minsk through decades of Soviet repression
